Welbeck Moves To Stadium Of Light

Fee: Loan

WorldwideFootball can reveal Sunderland have signed Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck on a season long loan.
Welbeck has been brought as a short term replacement for Kenwyne Jones who was sold to Premier League rival Stoke City yesterday.
The England U21 international has struggled to break into the Manchester United first team as he is behind the likes of Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen in the pecking order and last season he was sent out on loan to Championsip side Preston North End.
It's not known whether the loan could lead to a permanent deal but either way Welbeck will be hoping to get his chance to prove to Sir Alex Ferguson he is worth a place in the Manchester United starting line-up.

Danny Welbecks career:

2008 - Manchester United - 8 apps (1 goal)
2010 - Preston North End (loan) - 8 apps (2 goals)

2008-2009 - England U19 - 10 apps (2 goals)
2009 - England U21 - 5 apps (0 goals)
