Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti finally decided to start with Drogba at the weekend while Torres was getting splinters on the bench and while Drobga scored Torres only got to see 8 minutes action. Is Ancelotti's patience finally worn thin?

There's no doubting the mans talents but injuries and no breaks in pre-season for the last two years seem to be taking it's toll on the Spaniard. I bet those Liverpool fans who questioned Torres sale must now be rubbing there hands together!!

Fernando Torres Signs For Chelsea Fee: £48m

The transfer that started the money merry-go-round today, Fernando Torres to Chelsea, has been completed just before the transfer deadline.
The fee is believed to be in the region of £45m-£50m and becomes Chelsea's record signing, beating the previous record held by Andriy Shevchenko
If all goes well Torres could make his debut next Sunday at Stamford Bridge and ironically the opponents then will be LIVERPOOL
El Nino has had an up and down season so far.  He was part of the Spanish World Cup winning side but back at Liverpool Torres has been carrying injuries and has also had a loss of form.  People have wondered whether the loss of form was down to Torres wanting out at Anfield but now he has gone the Chelsea faithful will be hoping Torres finds the form that made him one of the most feared strikers in world football.

Daniel Sturridge Joins Bolton Wanderers Fee: Loan

Bolton Wanderers have completed the loan signing of 21 year old Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge until the end of the season.
With Fernando Torres due to sign for Chelsea today manager Carlo Ancelotti thinks its best for the youngster to gain Premier League experience with Owen Coyle's side.
Last season Bolton took Arsenal's Jack Wilshere on loan and since then the midfielder hasn't look back so the striker will hope the luck will rub of onto him.
Since joining Chelsea in 2009 from Manchester City Sturridge has failed to make an impact scoring one goal in 26 appearances for the Pensioners.
Should Sturridge do well during this loan spell it is unsure whether Sturridge will want to make the move permanent or try his luck back at Stamford Bridge.

Everton Get Reading In The Cup

FA Cup Fifth Round draw was made today and if the Unofficial Premier League Champions Everton manage to beat Chelsea in the Fourth Round replay then they know they will be hosting Championship side Reading in the last 16.
Everton were almost victorious against Chelsea in the original tie only for Soloman Kalou to net the equalizer and  take the tie to a replay which will be held at Stamford Bridge on February 19th, the day of the fifth round ties.

The ties of the round though are at Old Trafford where Manchester United will host non-league side Crawley Town whilst Arsenal travel to Brisbane Road to face League One Leyton Orient.

Everton Denied Cup Win By Kalou Everton 1 (Saha 62) Chelsea (Kalou 75)

Substitute Salomon Kalou rescued Chelsea with a late equaliser as Carlo Ancelotti's side stayed on course to win the FA Cup for a third successive season in a 1-1 draw with Everton today.
French striker Louis Saha looked to have earned the hosts a famous fourth round victory at Goodison Park when he brought a dull tie to life with a 62nd-minute header. But Kalou kept his composure to finish well in the 75th minute and force a replay that keeps alive lacklustre Chelsea's season.
Chelsea, who are trying to sign Liverpool striker Fernando Torres, had arrived on Merseyside with an exceptional FA Cup record. Since suffering a surprise sixth round exit at Barnsley in March 2008, the London club have embarked on a 14-match unbeaten run in the famous competition. Thanks to Kalou, that is now 15 unbeaten.

Trailing leaders Manchester United in the Premier League and with Barcelona favourites to win the UEFA Champions League, the FA Cup once again represents Chelsea's most realistic hope of silverware this season. But despite starting with eight players who played in last season's win over Portsmouth in the final at Wembley, Chelsea struggled to stamp their authority on proceedings.
Their travelling fans had to wait until the 31st minute to see Everton keeper Tim Howard make a save, the United States international doing well to keep out Nicolas Anelka's effort after the Frenchman was sent clear by Ramires. By then Everton had twice tested Petr Cech through Jack Rodwell and then Diniyar Bilyaletdinov's firm header.
Yet chances were few and far between on an afternoon when Chelsea fans taunted Everton's Merseyside neighbours Liverpool with chants of "Torres, Torres give us a wave" and "Fernando Torres Chelsea's No 9". Chelsea could certainly have done with Torres's cutting edge at Goodison. Florent Malouda forced Howard into a 35th-minute save with a powerful left-foot drive but there was little threat from Didier Drogba during a first half to forget.
Everton upped the tempo after the interval, Saha denied by a fine block by Ramires before Cech tipped Marouane Fellaini's 56th-minute header over the bar. But Saha was not to be denied and, after Leighton Baines had delivered a fine corner, the former Manchester United striker powered an unstoppable header beyond Cech.
However, Everton's lead lasted just 13 minutes as Kalou levelled things up three minutes after coming on with a precision finish on the back of a swift break.

Calamity Keeper Saves Spurs TitleTottenham Hotspur 1 (Pavlyuchenko 15) Chelsea 1 (Drogba 70)

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti was left to rue a late penalty miss from Didier Drogba as Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes went from villain to hero in a dramatic 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
Ancelotti's spluttering side were heading for a fifth defeat in nine games after Roman Pavlyuchenko's first-half strike put Spurs in front. But Gomes gifted Chelsea an equaliser with 20 minutes left when he allowed Drogba's shot to escape his grasp and loop into the net.
Drogba had a golden opportunity to steal the points for Chelsea when Gomes conceded a stoppage time penalty, but the striker saw his spot-kick brilliantly saved by the Brazilian.
Chelsea were well below their best once again and Ancelotti, under increasing pressure in recent weeks, will be cursing Drogba's miss, which leaves the Blues one point behind Arsenal ahead of the leaders' trip to Manchester United tomorrow.
Although Drogba has struggled to recapture the form that made him the Premier League's top scorer last season, he remains Chelsea's most potent attacking option and his side were toothless without him in the first half.

If Drogba's absence played a part in Chelsea's slow start, they were hindered even more by a continued lack of security at the back. Once the cornerstone of Chelsea's success, Ancelotti's defence now gifts chances with alarming regularity and Pavlyuchenko took full advantage to open the scoring in the 15th minute.
When Jermain Defoe cut infield and found Pavlyuchenko in the penalty area, Chelsea captain John Terry should have closed down the Russian striker. Instead he and John Obi Mikel sat back and allowed Pavlyuchenko to drill a low shot past Cech at his near-post. Replays showed Defoe may have been just offside before crossing, but that was no excuse for Chelsea's poor defending.
Over 25 minutes passed before Gomes was seriously tested when Salomon Kalou's header from Nicolas Anelka's cross forced the Brazilian into action. Another Chelsea defensive lapse should have been punished with a second goal for Pavlyuchenko, but he couldn't keep his shot on target after running unmarked onto Gareth Bale's free-kick.
Only Florent Malouda was providing a sustained threat for Chelsea and he set up two chances for Kalou, who glanced his first header wide and then skied the next headed effort well over. Chelsea had plenty of possession as the half wore on but there was no cutting edge and it was no surprise when Ancelotti sent on Drogba for Mikel at the interval.
Drogba's arrival almost paid immediate dividends as his long-range shot was pushed away for a corner by Gomes, who had to make another acrobatic stop moments later to prevent Wilson Palacios heading a Drogba cross into his own net.
With Drogba up front, Chelsea at last had some focus to their attacks. They lacked composure at times, but that didn't matter as Gomes gifted Chelsea their equaliser in the 70th minute.
Drogba showed tremendous strength and skill to control a hopeful punt and flick it past Michael Dawson. However, his shot was straight at Gomes and should have been saved. Instead the Brazilian's weak attempted stop only managed to push the ball into his net to the delight of Ancelotti and his players.
Ancelotti sent on Frank Lampard for his first appearance in over three months with 12 minutes remaining and Chelsea pressed forward for a winner. It should have arrived in stoppage time when Gomes conceded a penalty by barging into Ramires, but the goalkeeper redeemed himself as he dived to keep out Drogba's spot-kick keeping the score at 1-1 and also means Tottenham remain as the "UNOFFICIAL PREMIER LEAGUE" CHAMPIONS

New Champions Crowned Manchester City 1 (Tevez 59) Chelsea 0

Manchester City ended Chelsea's flawless start to the Premier League season as Carlos Tevez's second-half solo goal settled a tense encounter at Eastlands.

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti took on his City counterpart and fellow Italian Roberto Mancini with the men from Stamford Bridge riding high on the back of five straight League wins and a flurry of goals.

It was a golden sequence that had even Mancini predicting that Chelsea would cruise to the title again this season - but this meeting with big-spending City was also regarded as by far the biggest test of Ancelotti's champions.

And so it proved, as City stifled Chelsea's attacking potency with fiercely-disciplined defence and close midfield attentions, offering encouragement to those hoping to take their crown away and allowing captain Tevez to spring the trap on the hour.

The visitors conceded possession as Mancini's men broke from defence, and Tevez ran half the length of the pitch before making light of Ashley Cole's presence to fire his finish across Blues goalkeeper Petr Cech and in off the post.

A sign of Tevez's impact on this expensively-rebuilt City side was that it was his 25th goal in his last 29 Premier League matches and his sixth in his last five games against Chelsea.

The west Londoners, who hit the post through Branislav Ivanovic in the first half, were unable to mount any response and their lack of threat was underlined when Ancelotti removed a surprised Didier Drogba with 15 minutes left - but to no avail.

City doggedly defied all Chelsea's attempts to fight their way back into the game, with the influence of injured Frank Lampard badly missed.

For the home side, despite their manager's downbeat assessment of their ability to challenge Chelsea in the title race, this victory against a side that has carried all before them in the league will only add to their confidence that they can make an impact near the top of the table this season.

Mancini left exciting Adam Johnson on the bench, and the England winger's creation and unpredictability was missed in a dour first 45 minutes.

James Milner caused Chelsea's only moments of alarm, with a free-kick that was touched away by Cech and a driven low cross on the stroke of half-time that was scrambled to safety by John Terry with Tevez closing in.

The visitors did not offer much more as a attacking force, although they came closest to scoring on the half-hour when Alex headed into the path of Ivanovic, who headed against the post before forcing City keeper Joe Hart into a diving save from the rebound.

The second half opened with what could almost be termed a flurry of action after the stalemate of the opening period, with Hart turning away Nicolas Anelka's shot with his fingertips and Cech being forced to save down at his near post from David Silva.

And the renewed ambition from both sides saw Mancini's side go ahead after 59 minutes with a solo effort from Tevez. Ramires conceded possession under pressure from Milner, and when Yaya Toure fed Tevez, the Argentine ran unchallenged from the halfway line, with Terry and Cole in retreat, to score off the post.

The challenge had been thrown down to Ancelotti's men, but it was City who almost had the opportunity to add to their lead only for Alex to get a crucial touch to Tevez's cross with Silva lurking behind.

Drogba had endured a frustrating afternoon, but he still flashed a look of surprise in the direction of his manager when he was substituted with 15 minutes left. Former City youngster Daniel Sturridge was his replacement, and his Eastlands return was not well received as he was greeted by a storm of jeering.

The home side made a change of their own minutes later, when the limping Silva was replaced by Johnson - and Mancini's side were able to close out the victory in comfort.

The Premier League took a 2 week break for international commitments but it took Chelsea 2 minutes to get back into the swing of things against a West Ham side low on confidence.  This defeat for the Hammers makes it the worst start to a season in the clubs history and already there is uncertainty over the future of Avram Grant.

Chelsea on the other hand have a perfect 100% record this season and have already scored 17 goals in their 4 games conceding just the one by Scott Parker today.

We may only be 4 games into the season but West Ham find themselves rooted at the bottom of the table, 4 points adrift from safety and with games against Stoke City and Tottenham Hotspur they could be in danger of being further away from safety.

Back to the game and after 2 minutes Didier Drogba's cross from a corner found Essien unmarked to head his team in front, despite Carlton Cole's efforts to head the ball clear.

Chelsea's second goal had more than a hint of farce about it as Hammers goalkeeper Rob Green failed to cling on to a low Drogba free-kick. Upson pounced on the loose ball but his clearance cannoned into Kalou's heel and looped into the net.

Most people in the crowd knew the game was already over yet we hadn't reached the 20 minute mark.  The rest of the first half Chelsea were in control but West Ham managed to create some chances but nothing to worry Petr Cech in the Chelsea goal.

The second half saw West Ham try to take control but they couldn't get behind Chelsea and make Cech work, Chelsea seemed to have all the answers and then with 7 minutes left Essien got his second goal of the game.  Paulo Ferreira's cross found Essien who nodded home from close range.

Five minutes from time and West Ham got themselves on the scoresheet.  Cech cleared a West Ham corner but his punch found Parker who volleyed the ball over Cech and into the net.  If you heard the cheer of the West Ham crowd you wouldn't have realised they had scored.  The usual noise from the crowd had dwindled as the realisation of a relegation battle was starting to hit home.

Malouda's Scoring Streak Continues Bosnia-Herzegovina 0 France 2

Florent Malouda's scintillating start to the season continued tonight as France overcome a plucky Bosnia in their Group D clash in Sarajevo.


After losing their opening match of the qualifying campaign at home to Belarus at the weekend the French knew tonights win was a must win game but it took Les Bleus until the 72nd minute to crack open a resolute Bosnian defense which was carved open by Real Madrid's Karim Benzema.


The goal must have knocked the wind out of Bosnia as 5 minutes later Malouda scored his fifth goal of the season and the second for France to make sure the 3 points were heading off to Paris.


Like Salomon Kalou at the weekend Malouda was the only scorer for the Unofficial Premier League Champions Chelsea.


All Chelsea's international stars can now head back to London and prepare for a London derby against bottom club West Ham United at Upton Park on Saturday.

Mancienne Wander's Back To Wolverhampton Fee: Loan

Worldwide Football can reveal Wolves have signed Michael Mancienne for a third time after the Chelsea defender moved to Molineux on a season-long loan.

Mancienne has enjoyed loan spells with Wolves for the past two seasons, making 10 appearances during the club's 2008/09 Championship winning campaign

He returned to the club following their promotion to the Premier League last term and proved a versatile performer in making 33 appearances in all competitions.

The 22-year-old, who can also play in midfield, reportedly handed in a transfer request at Stamford Bridge over the summer and that led to speculation of a permanent move to Wolves.

However, McCarthy had stressed that Mancienne would be out of his club's price range and he would only be interested in a loan deal.

McCarthy has now managed to secure a deal for Mancienne and he could go straight into the squad for Saturday's game at home to Newcastle United.

The former England Under 21 international has made just six appearances during his Chelsea career and has not been involved in the 18-man squad for the champions' opening two league matches.

Chelsea Have Six Appeal...AGAIN Wigan Athletic 0 Chelsea 6 (Malouda 34, Anelka 48,52, Kalou 78,90, Benayoun 90+3)

Nicolas Anelka scored twice as Chelsea continued their wonderful start to the season despite an improved display from Wigan.

The hosts had the better of the first half hour but trailed to Florent Malouda's effort at the interval.
And after Anelka's quick-fire double at the start of the second half, Salomon Kalou added a fourth.
Despite an even more comprehensive defeat, the performance of the Latics in the opening period was in stark contrast to their humbling 4-0 defeat to Blackpool seven days earlier.
They were first to every ball in midfield but could not turn that superiority into clear-cut chances.  Maynor Figureoa had a long-range drive palmed away by Petr Cech, who also did well to block a couple of strikes from Hugo Rodallega.
But the Czech goalkeeper was not required to do anything beyond what should be expected of him and Chelsea made them pay the price just after the half-hour mark.
Wigan claimed that Ashley Cole had fouled Charles N'Zogbia to give himself a free run on to Didier Drogba's pass. Cole's cross from the left found Frank Lampard, whose low drive was palmed away by Chris Kirkland, but only as far as Malouda, who rolled into an empty net.Ronnie Stam had another strike saved by Cech as Wigan looked for a way back before the interval. But the contest was finished within a few minutes of the restart.John Obi Mikel's long diagonal ball picked out Anelka and the Frenchman managed to find an angle inside the far post despite being forced wide.
And four minutes later, he grabbed a second when he helped Drogba's prod into the back of the net after Malouda had scampered on to Cech's huge clearance.Mauro Boselli had one effort ruled out for offside and also had a header saved.
Kalou made it four after Drogba burst through and squared for his fellow Ivorian to seal an easy win.
Kalou added a fifth in the final minute to underline Chelsea's power before Yossi Benayoun scored his first for the club to make it six.

Chelsea hold on to the "Unofficial Premier League" title belt today and showed the rest of the Premiership they are not hanging around in their bid to keep the official title by beating a lackluster West Brom at Stamford Bridge today.


It took Chelsea 6 minutes to get the ball rolling.  A freekick from just outside the area by Didier Drogba was to hot to handle for keeper Scott Carson who spilled the ball into the path of John Obi Mikel who struck straight at the West Brom keeper but the rebound fell to Malouda who rammed the ball home for to make it 1-0.


Chelsea had chances to make it 2-0 but it took until stoppage time for them to make their possession count.  Another freekick from Chelsea and again the wall broke as if I had built it and Drogba's shot went straight through the wall into the bottom corner.  Now the scoreline relflected matchplay.  Chelsea had yet to get out of second gear.


The second half started in much the same way, Chelsea with all the possession, intricate passing and pace down both flanks but West Brom striker had a 20 yard effort ruled out for off-side and in the 55th minute a Chelsea corner was headed goalwards by skipper John Terry, his effort was cleared off the line but only as far as Drogba who from 6 yards out grabbed his second of the match, just under 10 minutes later and it was Frank Lampards turn to get his name on the score sheet as he begins another season where he will probably get 20 goals.


3 minutes later Drogba might have completed his hat-trick.  For now he has the match ball but the dubious goal's committee might take it off him as his shot deflected of Gabriel Tamas and past Carson, I for one hope they give the Ivory Coast hitman his goal, his performance deserved it.


The Chelsea fans were in full voice, absolutely loving what they were seeing.  They evenstarted chanting the name of ex-Chelsea midfielder and current West Brom manager Roberto Di Matteo who must've been shell shocked at what he was seeing and just when he thought the game was over and he could get out of London Florent Malouda, who began the rout got a second after his shot went in off the post.


Chelsea were in awesome form and already after one goal I have seen enough to say whoever finished above Chelsea this season will win the Premier League, they were simply amazing.
