Norwich City promoted to the Premier League

1-0 victory means back to back promotions for Lamberts boys

What a day in the Championship!!! There were two matches played today but they told us who would be joining Queens Park Rangers in the Premier League next season. One point seperated Norwich City in second place and third placed Cardiff City. First up were the Bluebirds who hosted Middlesbrough who's season had finished so surely it was an easy three points for the home side. We couldn't have been more wrong. Goals by Lita, Robson and Smallwood in the opening 20 minutes put Boro 3-0 up and already Cardiff fans were hoping Portsmouth will be able to do them a favour. No more goals in Wales mean't Boro walked away winners and indeed it was down to the South Coast and Fratton Park where Portsmouth entertained Norwich City.

Norwich would've already been aware Cardiff had lost so a win against Portsmouth and they were back in the Premier League. The game started off with a possible red card for the home side when Aaron Mokoena's elbow found Grant Holt's face but the referee left his cards in his pocket but in the 50th Norwich scored with a Simeon Jackson header to send the 3500 travelling Canaries into delirium.

Paul Lambert has done an amazing job since taking over in the 2009/10 season, in fact Norwich City's first match in League One that season was a 7-1 maulling by Lamberts Colchester United. Lambert from Colchester to take over from Bryan Gunn and Norwich havent looked back since claiming back to back promotions so now we now who the two sides are who are automatically promoted. Norwich City and Queens Park Rangers (until the courtroom battle begins)

As for Cardiff, well if they want to become the first side from Wales to play in the Premier League they look like playing Nottingham Forest in the Play-Offs, Dave Jones will be hoping the results against Middlesbrough hasn't affected the confidence to much
