Twitter abuse forces second account closure

Wanderers striker Kevin Davies closes account after Rovers abuse

According to reports in todays The Sun newspaper Bolton Wanderers captain Kevin Davies has quit twitter after receiving abusive tweets from Blackburn Rovers supporters.
Davies, 34 didn't help himself when tweeting: "he was looking forward to 'seeing Blackburn's attractive football he's been hearing Kean talk about'.
This was just before Blackburn went on to win 1-0 and almost guarantee Premier League football for another season.
After the game angry Rovers fans decided to vent their anger towards Davies and his wife Emma who has also closed her account.
In his last tweet Davies said: "Reason for leaving is partly due to abuse that nobody needs really."
Twitter has been in the papers for all the wrong reason lately, two weeks ago Manchester Uniteds Darron Gibson opened his twitter account only to close it two hours later for getting to much abuse.
Kevin Davies is a rarity on twitter, a footballer that responds to the public, so many footballers ignore normal tweets but are happy to joke and chat to other celebrities so its a shame that the minority have spoiled it for the majority.
I also think it is a slight over exaggeration from the players, although I don't know what the abusive tweets consisted of but Derby County midfielder Robbie Savage get abusive tweets all the time, all he does is retweet them and get on with his life, maybe this is the example other players should live up to, but like I say, I don't know what Davies and Gibson took in terms of abuse.
Twitter can be fun where the public can laugh and joke with friends as well as get ignored by the rich and famous, I enjoy twitter as much as the next man but why abuse people on there, these people enjoy doing it when they can hide behind their computer screen, would these people have the balls to do it in public?
