Nigerian International dies in car accident

WorldwideFootball wish to join the rest of the footballing world in passing on their condolenses to the family of Olubayo Adefemi who died yesterday after being involved in a car crash.

The 25 year old, capped 5 times by Nigeria, was driving from Xanthi to Salonika heading home to Nigeria to finalise his wedding details when he lost control of his car, he died at the scene.

The defender had spent most of his career playing in Israel before signing for Skoda Xanthi in 2010. He made 24 appearancse for his club scoring twice.

Adefemi's Zambian team-mate Chris Katongo says Xanthi players were in shock when they heard news of the death of the popular player. He told BBC Sport "It was a good day and all the players were laughing and joking when the manager came in and broke the news. Everyone is in shock. Even as I am speaking I am thinking it is a joke but it is true. I can't believe this"

 Skoda Xanthi are planning a friendly in the close season in aid of the defenders family.
