Group A Finale

The 3rd and final round of the group stages begin today so the elimainations can officially begin and this afternoon we see the climax of Group A.  A draw in the game between Uruguay and Mexico will be enough to see both teams through. Uruguay have looked good in the competition so far especially striker Diego Forlan, he has got 2 goals in the tournament as Uruguay look set to become the suprise winners of Group A.  Mexico have also suprised everyone after a terrible qualification which they only secured once they sacked former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson but they are here and have grabbed the opportunity with both hands.
France are the surprise in this group.  Everyone has been surprised at just how bad they have been in this tournament but this has been overshadowed by the in fighting in the camp.  Nicolas Anelka sent home, Jean-Louis Valentin resigns from his post, the squads failure to train, it has been a nightmare for the French, I bet the Irish are loving every minute of it.
South Africa could make history today by becoming the first host nation not to make it into the knock-out stages. For them to avoid this they would have to hope Mexico lose and beat France by 5 goals so it looks unlikely we will be seeing Bafana Bafana anymore in the tournament after today.
