Belhadj Happy To Join Al Sadd

Worldwide Football can reveal Qatari side Al Sadd have completed the signing of Algerian defender Nadir Belhadj from Championship side Portsmouth.
Belhadj, who was a member of the Algerian World Cup Squad was a rare shining in light in what was an awful season for Portsmouth which saw them deducted points for going into administration and then relegated out of the Premier League, although they did make it to the FA Cup Final
A number of players were due to leave so it will come as no suprise for the Fratton Park faithful to see Belhadj has moved on, it just might have raised some eyebrows where he has gone as a number of clubs had tried to get his signature but he has chosen to go to Qatar.
Soon after the deal was completed Al Sadd general secretary Jassim Al Rumaihi released a statement on the clubs website www.al-saddclub.com saying "We were planning to sign him a long time ago and we managed to conclude the deal with Portsmouth.  Belhadj had a lot offers from European clubs but his desire to play with us helped us to make the deal.  He will join us in our training camp in Italy and Austria before being presented to the media when we return to Doha."
