The Danish striker played through the pain barrier to turn out for his country in the World Cup but has been ordered to have complete rest and when he comes back from his summer break he will go under the surgeons knife yet again.
Once he has had the operation the Arsenal medical staff will reassess the injury to see how long he is likely to be for now but this is a blow to Arsenals plans and a blow for Bendtner who was hoping to show his doubters he is worth a place in the Arsenal line-up.
