Benayoun In Chelsea Switch

From Liverpool - Chelsea (undisclosed)

Our unofficial Premier League champions (OK and current official Premier League champions) Chelsea have made their first signing of the summer and although it wasnt the best kept secret in football Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Yossi Benayoun from Liverpool.  Although the signing was for an "undisclosed" fee the rumours suggest a fee to be in the region of £5-6m.
Benayoun is a regular for the Israeli national side but his chances were limited during his time at Liverpool and he was growing increasingly frustrated with life at Liverpool so a change was agreed between him and ex Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez weeks ago.

Benayoun joined Liverpool in 2007 from West Ham United where he played in an FA Cup Final (against Liverpool) and made 63 appearance scoring 8 goals.

Benayoun's career started in Israel for Hapoel Be'er Sheva before a switch to Maccabi Haifa.  From here his travels began when Spanish club Racing Santander signed him and he stayed for 3 years before a big money move to West Ham followed in 2005.  Two years later he was off to Mersayside and then today he returned to London signing for Chelsea.  In a press conference at Chelseas Stamford Bridge Benayoun said "I am very excited to come to a club like Chelsea, it is a big club and I think it is a dream for every player. Hopefully we will be successful.".
Overall this is a good signing for Chelsea who have lost Joe Cole and Benayoun is a more than adequate reoplacement.
