Gary Doherty Signs For Charlton

Worldwide Football understands experienced Republic Of Ireland defender Gary Doherty has signed for League One outfit Charlton Athletic on a two year deal after being released by Norwich City.


The former Luton, Tottenham and Norwich man joins up with his new team mates in pre-season training and will hope to add the experience needed for Charlton to mount a challenge for promotion to the Championship.


Doherty, 30, is manager Phil Parkinsons first signing of the summer and is a versatile player and if needed Gary Doherty can add amunition up front and become and extra striker where he has been kmown to score some important goals.


The "Ginger Pele" has also made 34 appearances for the Republic Of Ireland scoring 4 goals and is still a member of Giovanni Trappatoni's squad for the European Qualifiers

2000-2004 - Tottenham Hotspur - 64 apps (4 goals)
2004-2010 - Norwich City - 202 apps (12 goals)
