Eduardo in Genoa switch

Worldwide Football can reveal Eduardo Dos Reis Carvalho or Eduardo as he is known has left Portuguese club SC Braga and joined Italian side Genoa for yet again an undisclosed fee.

The 27 year old keeper who was ever present in Portugal's World Cup 2010 squad was thought to be Arsene Wengers preferred choice to replace Manuel Almunia but has chosen Serie A over the Premiership.

During the World Cup Eduardo only conceded 1 goal and that was against Spain in the round of 16 which eliminated the Portuguese and has represented Portugal 19 times.

Previous to Braga Eduardo has also had spells at Beira-Mar and Vitoria Setubal on loan before cementing his place at the Estadio AXA.

Genoa needed to draft in a replacement after the previous number 1, Marco Amelia left Genoa to join AC Milan on a one year loan.

Eduardo follows in the footsteps of Luca Toni and 25 year old Hungary international Gergely Rudolf in joining Genoa as manager Gian Pieor Gasperini looks to make wholesale changes.

Eduardo's career:
2001-2006 - Braga B - 110 apps
2005-2010 - Braga - 60 apps
2007 - Beira-Mar (loan) - 15 apps
2007-2008 - Vitoria Setubal - 30 apps
