Late Equaliser Denies Hammers Victory

Everton 2 (Bilyaletdinov 77, Fellaini 90) West Ham 2 (Spector 26, Piquionne 84)

Marouane Fellaini salvaged a point for Everton in injury time as the hosts twice came from behind to deny a struggling West Ham a deserved victory.
Jonathan Spector gave the visitors a first half shock lead, firing in Luis Boa Morte's cutback after 26 minutes.
Frederic Piquionne missed the chance to put the Hammers two goals up when his 41st-minute header hit the post.
The Irons held on until the 77th minute when Everton substitute Diniyar Bilyaletdinov lashed in the equalizer from the edge of the penalty area.
But the scores didn't stay that way for long. Eight minutes later Wayne Bridge's cross found the head of Piquionne and this time the striker got his goal.
But, stupidly, Piquionne approached the travelling West Ham fans to celebrate, earning his second yellow card, only three minutes after picking up his first.
At the death, however, Everton scrapped an undeserved leveller, Leon Osman's cross as brought under control by Fellaini, who managed to turn and shoot into the net despite being surrounded by three West Ham players.
It was a cruel blow for Avram Grant's side, who would have jumped away from the bottom of the league had they held on.
Everton's late equaliser means West Ham remain rooted to the foot of the table, but Everton, despite a lacklustre performance close to within three points of seventh place in the league.
