Rohan Ricketts Move To Germany Called Off

With all the deals going on in Europe at the moment you have to feel for former Tottenham midfielder Rohan Ricketts.

The 28 year old midfielder flew out to Germany and trained with Fortuna Dussledorf on Friday ahead of a free transfer.  The deal was expected to be concluded today but Ricketts has been told the deal now won't be completed as the club no longer have the finances to pay his wages so the whole trip was a waste of time.

Speaking on Talksport today the former England U21 International said "I'm now stuck, I had a call from a couple of clubs in Turkey but now they can't happen because of the transfer deadline, this trip was a waste of time from the start and now it looks like I won't be able to sign for anyone"

Ricketts has been without a club since being released from Moldovan club Dacia Chisinau after the club were relegated in November and was hoping the move to Dusseldorf would be a move to get his career back on track.

Ricketts has also had spells in Hungary and Canada but made his name when he made his debut for Tottenham Hotspur in 2002
