Nigerian international striker Obafemi Martins has returned to the Premier League today joining Birmingham City on loan until the end of the season.
The 26 year old made his name at Newcastle United where he made 88 appearances for the Magpies between 2006 and 2009 before a £9m transfer took him to Germany and Wolfsburg.
Martins adapted to the Bundelsiga straight away and made 16 appearances scoring 6 goals in just under a year. Form that made Rubin Kazan spend £17m for him in July 2010.
Martins could be on the bench on Wednesday when Birmingham host Manchester City due to the Russian Premier League being in its close season and Martins not being match fit but this signing will only improve Birmingham City this season. Whether Martins could be playing for a permanent deal in the summer is as yet unknown.
